big day

Heading out the door yesterday morning, bundled in his winter coat and carrying his backpack Lucas told Brent, "It's a big day, Dad."
Yes, indeed, it was a big day.

4th Birthday.

Cookie baking at preschool.

Fun with friends at daycare.

Daycare Christmas Program.

Opening presents from mommy, daddy and Hannah.

Then he was supposed to wind down and go to bed?  Yeah, right!!!

I jump at every chance I can to help with events the kids are in.  So much so, that I often wonder if I'm an annoying parent...  Oh well, I know plenty of parents who don't seem to want to get involved in anything, so they should be thankful for me.  Right?!?!  :~)

I wasn't about to miss cookie decorating day at preschool, especially given it was on Lucas' birthday.
The extra bonus?  Gramma Connie could come, too.

Lucas was excited to show Gramma where he hangs his backpack, the fish, the bunnies, his favorite centers.  Oh, the fun!  He got a special crown for his birthday that he wore all day.  After washing hands, we got right into cutting out cookies.  Lucas had flour all over himself!

While they were baking, the kids did their morning routine and sang some Christmas songs.
Lucas got to put one of the candles on the Advent wreath.

Lucas brought snack and a treat (his favorite: suckers) for his birthday.
While everyone sang, he got to blow out the candles on a pretend cake.
I loved watching all the the rituals and he was just eating up the attention!

The finished cookie product; he and Gramma did a good job!

The Christmas program will be another post to look forward to... After it, Papa Steve, Gramma Connie and Uncle Brian came over to watch Lucas open his presents from mom, dad and Hannah.

Lucas and Hannah got into their pjs right away.  Lucas dressed himself.  Think I should remove the summer (and too small) pajamas from his drawer?

He's been asking when we could buy Cars 2 at the store since summer.

A race track and lots of fast cars!

Lucas loved it, but it was entertaining for all of us to guess which car would be the fastest.

Hannah liked the cars, too.

It was a "big day" and a fun one, too.
