Teresa's 30th birthday party

For my birthday last year, Brent, Maggie and Dave planned a murder mystery party.  All guests were assigned a character and had to play the role of this character the whole evening.  It was a lot of fun to dress silly and have fun with friends.

Carving and painting pumpkins

Time to decorate pumpkins!

Ooey-gooey.

Then he got to paint his own pumpkin...

...and mom's pumpkin.

Boo!  That jack-o-lantern is scary!

Happy Halloween!

Baby #2 update

I'm just about 30 weeks along and everything is going well with the pregnancy. Baby is growing well and I'm feeling great.

Ultrasound pictures at 28 weeks.

This picture is funny because there are a lot of body parts viewable!  The baby has one leg bent way up by it's head and the other stretched out.  He/she must be flexible!

Lucas continues to talk about the baby... he still thinks he has one in his tummy, too.  I've tried to get him to feel the baby kick (the one in my tummy, not his), but he isn't patient enough to wait for it.  He does like to tell the baby "hi" and give my belly nice hugs.  Up until about three weeks ago he has gone back and forth about whether the baby is a sister or brother.  However, now it is a different story.

"Lucas, are you going to have a baby sister or baby brother?"
"Baby sister."
"What will her name be?
"Lola."

Every time this conversation happens, it is very matter-of-fact and he has not changed his tune for three weeks.  Lola is a perfectly fine name, but it won't be this baby's name.  We've had several people ask if we are Barry Manilow fans.  :)

We haven't decided on a boy or girl name for baby... or even a top five.  We have plenty of time... right?

Choo, choo!

The only thing more fun than playing trains is...

...playing trains in your underwear!

And calling Papa Steve to tell him about it.

*I'm 100% positive Lucas will be embarassed by the underwear photos when he is 14.  But isn't it cute?

October birthday fun

We celebrated Caleb & Adele's birthday over the weekend. My dad and I also have October birthdays, so it is fun that we celebrate all together.

Caleb is 10 and Adele is 8.  I will be {gasp} 31 and my dad is 70.

Caleb was 3 in this photo.

Adele was almost one in this messy picture.

We were also fortunate to see our friends Mark & Jen and meet their precious little guy, Lane.  He and Lucas hit it off and had lots of fun playing together.

Flashback Friday

Perry Ag Services, Inc.

This is actually several flashbacks (and flash forward) all rolled into one.

We purchased the land in June of 2007.

Brent wrote this in the concrete sidewalk on the west side of his office.  This was the day of my 28th birthday; the same day that I hit a deer on my drive to Ames to work, when I was eight months pregnant.

Framing started in late December.

September 2008
There was a line of trees in the southwest corner of the property that we tore out.  This was a haven for deer and the trees were very poor quality.

May 2009
With the help of wonderful family members, we planted lots of evergreens and hardwood trees.

Lucas (17 months) and a newly planted tree.
Who grows faster?

Despite the TLC Brent gave these trees all summer and fall, several fell victim to deer over the winter.

From the building looking west - grass, new trees and a beautiful view.

There are still lots of things on the landscaping checklist, but we've come a long way in three years.  It has been fun to watch this progress and the business grow.
