This is actually several flashbacks (and flash forward) all rolled into one. 

We purchased the land in June of 2007.

Brent wrote this in the concrete sidewalk on the west side of his office.  This was the day of my 28th birthday; the same day that I hit a deer on my drive to Ames to work, when I was eight months pregnant. 

Framing started in late December. 

September 2008

There was a line of trees in the southwest corner of the property that we tore out.  This was a haven for deer and the trees were very poor quality.

May 2009

With the help of wonderful family members, we planted lots of evergreens and hardwood trees. 

Lucas (17 months) and a newly planted tree.

Who grows faster?

Despite the TLC Brent gave these trees all summer and fall, several fell victim to deer over the winter. 

Flash Forward

October 2010

From the building looking west - grass, new trees and a beautiful view.

There are still lots of things on the landscaping checklist, but we've come a long way in three years.  It has been fun to watch this progress and the business grow.
