pumpkins!

Time to carve pumpkins!

Everybody gets involved!

She was not afraid to dig in to the gooey insides.

To properly carve pumpkins, Lucas felt the need to take his shirt off.

Daddy was a good help ;-)

A happy pumpkin for Hannah and scary pumpkin for Lucas.

Kim gave me this cool ceramic pumpkin for my birthday.  How neat is it?!?!

Grandma and Grandpa wanted in on the carving fun, too.

girl's wine night

Connie loves wine and knows a lot about it.  I, on the other hand, tease that I like carbonated wines and I know very little about it.  Steve and Connie have a wine room in their house with lots of character and it is the perfect place for a wine tasting.  A year ago Connie wanted to host me and my girlfriends for a fun wine tasting night.  But that had to be postponed because I was pregnant with Ryan.  :-)

My girls: Loree, Sara, Maggie, Trista, myself, Kim and Brandy.
Finding a date for all of us to get together is usually like trying to get the stars to align but this time it was actually kind of easy.  Weird.

Connie and Rosemary were our hostesses - they were so fun!
We played some tasting games and tried to learn a thing or two.

Selfies:

It is rare that we can enjoy each other's company all together, without distractions.
A fun night with some of my favorite ladies.

I'm totally biased, but I think it's gorgeous.

Tim & Shana's wedding

This lovely couple got married on September 28.

They asked these two handsome fellas to be a part of their special day.

How handsome is this guy?
P.S. Those are the REAL wedding bands on that pillow.
Made me sweat to know the FIVE year old was in charge of these!

So serious.

Lucas did great, he was very attentive and delivered those rings perfectly!

The happy, happy couple!

Perry grandkids!

Ryan (3 months), Lucas (5 1/2), Cameron (2) and Hannah (2 1/2).

This is about the reaction I had with pictures of our own three...

Funny pose.

The ceremony, dinner and dance had so many special touches.
This was the menu for drinks - each member of the bridal party had a beverage named after them.
Notice the last one on the list - Ruthless Lucas ;-)

Ryan's baptism

Ryan's special baptism day was September 22, 3013.  We were so blessed to have our family and some special friends join us to celebrate Ryan's first public step in his faith.

Father Tony welcomed Ryan to church :)

He was very alert and interested, even cooing.

I wish you could have seen Ryan's reaction to the holy water on his head.  He was smiling!

There are three symbols during a Catholic baptism.  Water is a symbol of both life and death. Its use in baptism is central to the sacrament representing taking on a new life in Christ.

The baptismal candle is a symbol of the light of Christ which is coming into the child’s life. The presentation of light represents how the newly baptized will become a son or daughter of the light.

Oil is a symbol representing power and strength which comes from the Holy Spirit. This baptismal oil, chrism, is olive oil with special perfume which is blessed by the bishop in a special ceremony once a year. In the baptismal ceremony it is used to anoint forehead of the newly baptized. (This oil, by the way, smells so nice!)

Precious baby Ryan, proud mom and dad.

With Ryan's godparents, my brother Brian and sister in law, Jen.

Grandma Mary and Papa Richard.

Grandma Connie and Papa Steve.

The cake, which Ryan didn't eat any of.
Wait until your first birthday, buddy, then you can eat all you want!

This was from a card Ryan received and I thought it was a nice sentiment of what this day was about:

A baptism is a welcome to a life in God above --
To all the joy and blessings that are of His great love...
A baptism is a happy time for families to share --
A time for growing closer in God's strength and gentle care...
But, mostly, it's a gift of hop to someone sweet and new --
A gift your tiny child of God will keep a lifetime through.
