another day at the fair

Our second trip to the Iowa State Fair was with the kids.  Little Mr. Ryan's first state fair!

We did all of the kids' favorite things, starting with the animals.  Cattle, pigs, sheep and horses, plus the mamas and babies in the Animal Learning Center.  We ate lots of good food - mini donuts, caramel cinnamon rolls, ice cream and corn dogs (all before lunchtime).  At one point, Brent asked what do you want to eat?  Lucas responded, "all we've done is eat."  Yep, that's the special part of the fair!  We went on the giant slide and the Ye Old Mill.  Hannah says the big slide was bumpy and Lucas rode on his own burlap while I went with Hannah (and Dad hung out with Ryan).  We saw the ISU Insect Zoo and crawled around the Iowa National Guard trucks and tanks.  Plus more.  Before we left the fairgrounds we asked if there was anything the kids still wanted to see.  Lucas wanted to see more tractors so we climbed on a few more John Deere products before heading home.

It was a beautiful day to stroll the state fair.

Ryan was so impressed with all of the sights.

Climbing on the National Guard trucks.

Cute little baby piggies!

Hannah behind the wheel!

Mmm, corn dog.

He could have eaten three of these!

See you again next year, fair!
