With all of the things jammed into the weekend of Lucas' birthday, we opened presents before school.
He had several times for a Leap Reader, like he gets to use at school. Umm, yeah, when you ask for an educational birthday gift - you can bet you are going to get it!
The big ticket birthday gift? (pun intended…)
Tickets to an NFL game with his FAVORITE team.
Given this picture, you might think his favorite team is the Vikings. You would be wrong. It's the Philadelphia Eagles. Jake Knott, one of Iowa State's former players is now an Eagle, thus Lucas' favorite team.
Lucas headed off to school with Grandma Connie to build a gingerbread house for a special grandparent day.
I can just about imagine what Grandma is talking Lucas into incorporating on his gingerbread house...
The finished product, with proud builders!
While Lucas was at school, I was busy making birthday treats.
Treats for school snack…
Treats for the first-ever friend party...
And cake for a family celebration.
Are you seeing a theme yet???
This boy loves football!
Because of daycare friends having birthday parties, Lucas has asked for a long time about when he could have a friend birthday party. A couple of years ago we told him he could have a friend party when he was in Kindergarten. That seemed so far away {sigh}. But alas, that time snuck up on us and we did, indeed, allow him to have a friend party.
Six buddies joined us after school and this is what my house turned into:
We played some games like pin the football on the field goal and
sticky situation.
Lucas' party food of choice: Pizza Ranch!
I love that dimple.
The next day we celebrated with family and more cake!
We love this kid.
I tell him all the time - he's the best Lucas ever!
