What a week!
Last week was a long/short week for our family. We started the week with a Thanksgiving celebration for my side of family and a birthday party. Lucas is lucky because he gets to share his birthday month with his cousin, Abby.
Oh, the determination of an almost two year old.
We got new windows on Wednesday (stay tuned…).
We celebrated Thanksgiving with Brent’s family on Thursday. This meant lots of good food and a good nap, too!Over the long weekend, we decorated the house, rode in the combine (and finished harvest – yay!) and celebrated a family Christmas. Brent’s grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins get together early so that it accommodates schedules a little easier. Lucas mostly did this while the family had the grab bag gift exchange:

I'm thankful...
I'm thankful for my handsome, loving and funny husband.
I'm thankful for my sweet, adorable, precious little boy.
I'm thankful for our caring parents, siblings and extended families.
I'm thankful for our awesome friends - near and far.
I'm thankful for jobs that make us happy (paid and unpaid).
I'm thankful for a warm house, clean water and food in our cupboards.
I'm thankful for little giggles and belly bursting laughs.
I'm thankful for big blue eyes and dimples.
I'm thankful for little arms that hug tight.
I'm thankful for the words thank you, mommy and please, mommy.
I'm thankful for goodbyes kisses, hello kisses and good night kisses.
I'm thankful for runny noses, dirty diapers and drool.
I'm thankful for boots, hats and tractors.
I'm thankful God has blessed us in so many ways.

The little man of the house
Lucas is our first child. He is the most amazing gift God could have ever given us. Sometimes I wonder how God can do such incredible things. How did he know that Lucas would be the perfect little boy for us? I thank the Lord everyday for this gift.
A friend of mine had a baby in July. She said, "If I knew motherhood was going to be this great, I would have done it a long time ago." She is right; it is almost unexplainable to those who don't have children.
Inaugural blog
This is it -the first blog entry. I've been blogging in my head for months. I'm sort of a blog stalker. I have a ton of blogs in my favorites list that I read during my lunch hour. Some people I know, others are totally random. I really enjoy reading other's and think it will be a great way to keep track of our family memories and share them with family and friends.
The name - well, as a kid, didn't we all dream of a fairy tale life? Only, that's not how life works. It is our tale, lots of them.
It took some courage to finally decide I wanted to share our life on the internet. And here it is, with this very exciting inaugural blog.
