Pajama Party

From the day the flyer about the "Pajama Party" at the library appeared in Lucas' cubby at daycare, he has been so excited! For days, he asked about the jamma party. Finally, it arrived! After supper, we put on our comfy pajamas (Buzz Lightyear for Lucas) and headed off to the library.

Lucas gets to go to the library once a week for Toddler Time.  Daycare walks the kids to the library and they get to listen to stories, do a craft and (Lucas' favorite) play with the train set.

At the pajama party, he loved showing Brent and I what he plays with and where everything is at.  It was a fun treat!

Our Story - hApPy AnNiVeRsArY!

Today is the ten year anniversary of our first date.
November 10, 2000.

I was inspired by Pioneer Woman to write our love story. While I'm not going to share it on this blog (it is many, many pages) I think there will be a place for it in our family history book someday. There are so many tiny tidbits that I remembered as I was writing it...

...the first conversations...
...the first date...
...the first kiss...
...the first time I met his family...
...the first Christmas when he met my family...
...when my friends from work thought I was iNsAnE for agreeing to be his date for a wedding in his hometown (now OUR town) just two weeks after our first date...
...when he told me it took two months to get up the nerve to ask me on a date...
...how he worked in my hometown for three months the summer before we met...
...the fun memories of care-free college life together...
...how we were mostly inseperable from our second date until his college graduation...

There are so many more details in the story that make me smile and hopefully, will make Brent smile when I give it to him as a gift. Maybe it will spark some of his thoughts that I can add to the story.

Life has changed dramatically since that first date. We have been so blessed in soooo many ways. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for my husband, my best friend. God could not have created a better partner for me and I love him more each day.

Fire truck visit

The fire department visited daycare during Fire Prevention Week.  Ava's mom was able to attend (she's on maternity leave) and get some photos.

Lucas has on his bright green 'corn' hat.  See him?

Ava & Lucas.

Lucas is hiding in the arms of his teacher, Sammy. Each of the kids had the chance to put on the fireman's boots, hat and coat.  Surprisingly, Lucas didn't want to.  Ironically, the fireman is our neighbor, Scott, who Lucas knows well.  He was still excited to tell us about the big fire truck and how it had a big ladder.  One of his favorite bedtime books right now is all about trucks.  It has two whole pages about fire trucks and Lucas loves it!

Trick or Treat

Lucas had a great Halloween!  He was so excited to dress up as a Cyclone football player.  He loved his costume and repeatedly cheered, "Go Cy!"

We stopped at a couple of houses before heading to see Great Pa at the Care Center.

Then, we went to the Roundhouse Halloween Carnival to meet up with Cyclone cheerleader, Ava.

These two had a ball parading around the gym together for the costume contest.  The judges picked Lucas and Ava as first place in their age category!  They won a $7 cash prize.

Grandpa and Grandma came to watch and sit on the {very} hard bleacher seats.

After all of the festivities we grilled out with friends while the kids were on their sugar high.  I made a cake to celebrate my birthday, but it was really just a good excuse to have cake.

Teresa's 30th birthday party

For my birthday last year, Brent, Maggie and Dave planned a murder mystery party.  All guests were assigned a character and had to play the role of this character the whole evening.  It was a lot of fun to dress silly and have fun with friends.
